SOUTHERN RIGHT WHALES migrate into the coastal waters around South Africa each year, arriving around mid-June and staying until mid-November. The males arrive first, followed by the females some weeks later. They come to these waters to mate and to calve. They do not feed while they are here as the waters around our coast does not support krill there staple diet. The pregnant females are the last to arrive and are the last to leave with their young.This tour takes you to the town of HERMANUS, which is regarded as being one of the world’s best land and boat-based whale watching sites in the world. On arriving at Hermanus we board a vessel that will take us out into Walker Bay to locate and to view Southern Right Whales in their natural environment. On this trip you will literally come to within meters of these magnificent giants of the ocean – it is a unique experience. After your boat-based whale encounter a good lunch at one of the most unusual restaurant settings in the world, BIENTANG’S CAVE, is highly recommended. This restaurant located on the water’s edge was once inhabited by early man and it is common to see whales from your table! Hermanus has many attractions, you can explore the old harbour with its fascinating Whale & Shark museum as well as a market for some great shopping. Whales are not the only attraction on this tour because on our return journey we travel through several seaside towns and coastal mountain passes. The coast and its beauty is unsurpassed along the route and allows you to experience a little of what lies beyond the City of Cape Town. THE GREAT WHITE SHARK PRIVATE TOUR

Join us for a close encounter with one of the world’s great predators in their natural habitat, the South Atlantic Ocean. This Full Day Private Tour takes you to the heart of WHITE SHARK territory. We depart early morning from Cape Town or surrounds and head for the coastal town of Gansbaai which is approximately a 2 hour drive from the City centre. On arrival we enjoy coffee and a continental breakfast which is combined with a short and informative introduction to Shark Cage Diving with shark legend Brian McFarlane. We then board “APEX PREDATOR”, the custom built catamaran that takes us out to meet the Great White Sharks (up very close and personal).

A favourite spot for viewing Great White Sharks is the aptly named Shark Ally and this is one of Brian’s favourite spots. There is also a possibility of seeing Cape Fur Seals, staple diet of the Great White, as well as a variety of coastal birds.

After this once in a lifetime and adrenaline pumping experience we return to Cape Town following a spectacular coastal route that may surprise us with a Southern Right Whale sighting or two – of course this would only be possibility during the whale season, which is from mid-August to mid-November. All in all this is super day tour that comes highly recommended.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden is the flagship of the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and was left to the nation when Cecil John Rhodes died in 1902. It was established as a botanical garden in 1913 and it is the largest of the country’s nine botanical gardens covering 528 hectares, which includes 36 hectares of developed garden with a network of wonderful walkways. The tour departs from Cape Town for Stellenbosch, which is the second oldest town in South Africa. You will visit Oom Samie se Winkel (Victorian Shop) and a historical wine farm for some wine tasting. You will also experience a driving tour of the Town which, among other things, is famous for its University and historical buildings. We then travel towards the False Bay coast and visit Muizenberg with its surfing beach and Shark Spotters. Then it’s on to Simon’s Town for a lunch stop, after which we visit the African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. We then proceed to Cape Point where you take the funicular to the historical lighthouse with an option to enjoy a number of short walks. An early start takes us to the summit of Table Mountain where the circular walk is highly recommended, affording you views across the Cape Flats towards the Winelands as well as the Atlantic coastline all the way to Cape Point. After Table Mountain we proceed along the Atlantic coastline to Hout Bay fishing harbour and then Chapman’s Peak drive with its panoramic views. We pass through Simon’s Town and visit the African Penguins at Boulders Beach before arriving at Cape Point for lunch. After lunch we take a scenic walk to the old lighthouse, and if you are up to it, there are a number of great short walks to enjoy. The walk from Cape Point Light House to the Cape of Good Hope is most popular. The trip back to the City is along a completely different route travelling through seaside towns with plenty of spectacular scenery before arriving at Cape Town in the late afternoon.

ROBBEN ISLAND is a world heritage site most famous for its notorious maximum-security prison and the place that NELSON MANDELA was jailed for 18 years. The island is a symbol of the triumph of democracy and freedom over oppression and racism.You will meet some of the ex-political prisoners and hear their account as to what life was like on the island during the days of Apartheid. The island experience can cause emotions to run high and quite rightly so – a highlight is visiting Nelson Mandela’s cell with its simple stark reality. It is hard to believe that a man could endure so much solitude and confinement and yet still emerge as an advocate to peace, reconciliation and most of all forgiveness to his captors. Nelson Mandela was a truly remarkable man!

TABLE MOUNTAIN is made up of granite and sandstone rock. Today the mountain is famous for its unforgettable profile and the sheer wealth of species, both plant and animal that inhabit its slopes. The cable way has been in operation since 1929 and runs from Tafelberg Road to the top of the famous flat table. The view from the top is something special and a must for all visitors to Cape Town. While at the top there are a number of well laid out walks that can be taken with plenty of view sites for photo opportunities.

The view of Robben Island from the top of the mountain puts everything into perspective. This Full Day tour is split into two, either Table Mountain in the morning and Robben Island in the afternoon or vice versa, weather conditions play a large part in this tour because if the wind is too strong Table Mountain is closed as a safety precaution. It is generally best to do the mountain first as the wind tends to pick up in the afternoon.
