Day 1

On arrival at O.R.Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg you will be met by one of our representatives who will be holding up a board with your name. You will then be handed a hard copy travel pack with all the required information needed for your safari. You will be assisted to your overnight accommodation at a hotel which is located in the airport for your convenience and is within walking distance from the arrivals hall.

Day 2
O. R. TAMBO AIRPORT | KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Welcome to the Kruger National Park After breakfast you will board a flight to Eastgate Airport in the Kruger departing in the morning.  On arrival at Eastgate Airport you will be met by your driver who will take you to the Safari Lodge which is located in central Kruger. The drive will take approximately half an hour. On arrival you will check in and then enjoy lunch around the pool. In the afternoon you will venture out into the bush for a guided bush walk with a qualified Game Ranger and guide. In the evening you will enjoy dinner at the African Boma.

Day 3

cape town garden route suspension bridge to walk overAfter an early breakfast at the Lodge you will then proceed on a Full Day excursion into the Greater Kruger National Park entering at Orpen Gate which is the access point to central Kruger. Travelling in a 4 x 4 vehicle with a qualified ranger as your guide you will spend a full day exploring the region in search of all potential wildlife. This part of the  Kruger is an area known for having a variety of animals including the Big Five namely Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant as well as antelope and a      variety of the less famous but equally interesting smaller inhabitants of this unique region. You will enjoy a bush lunch at a secure rest camp which is near a watering hole, this itself is a great experience. At all times your professional ranger / guide will be able to supply plenty of local knowledge. You will arrive back at the Lodge in the late afternoon for drinks and dinner.

Day 4
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Cape-Town-Garden-Route-Surval Boutique Hotel in OudtshoornAfter breakfast you are collected from the Lodge by your guide for an exciting Full Day Tour of the world famous Panorama Route which takes you through the Blyde River Canyon and you will visit the Three Rondavels and Bourke’s Luck Potholes where the first gold was discovered in the region. You will also visit the scenic sites of Gods Window and Wonder View with amazing views from the escarpment looking out over the lowveld and Kruger. This is a most exciting and interesting area with lots of      wonderful scenery and history. Lunch will be along the route before returning to the Lodge in the early evening for drinks and then dinner.

Zebras in the Kruger National Park You are woken for an early morning Game Drive into a Private Game Reserve located next to Kruger, this being an opportunity to spot any of the wildlife that you might have missed. On returning to the lodge you will enjoy breakfast around the pool and then you have the morning to relax before          preparing for your flight back to Johannesburg. You will depart from the Lodge after lunch to meet your flight from Eastgate Airport to JHB, which departs at mid afternoon arriving in JHB two hours later.

Day 1: MEET & GREET CITY TOUR

Day 2: CAPE POINT & PENINSULA TOUR

The day is divided into two parts, Table Mountain in the morning and then Robben Island in the afternoon. This is because weather can be a factor, normally the conditions are more favorable for the mountain in the mornings. Lunch will be at the   V & A Waterfront.

Without a doubt one of the most alluring activities in Cape Town is a visit to the wine country with its vast and verdant beauty, historical wine estates and towns and world famous wines! On this day tour you will experience the art of wine tasting as well as learning a little about the colourful history of the region. The Cape Wine route is the first commercial wine route in the world and today it is regarded as one of the best. Lunch can be at Boschendal Wine Estate on the day. A selection of top wine    estates will be experienced in the Stellenbosch region.

Day 5: PRIVATE CAPE WINELANDS – OVERLAND
STELLENBOSCH – SOMERSET WEST – GORDON’S BAY – STRAND

It is amazing to experience the difference in style and taste and how climate influences the flavours. All the wine farms that we visit have been pre-sampled and approved by our Tour Guides. Apart from the wine tasting we also do a coastal drive to Gordon’s Bay and the Strand. We return to Cape Town in the late afternoon.

After breakfast you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit which is on the doorstep of Kruger National Park. On arrival you will be met by a representative and transported to Kapama Buffalo Camp which is reminiscent of a traditional African Safari camp from a bygone era with exquisite tented accommodation. Depending on your time of   arrival you will enjoy an evening safari drive into the bush with a qualified game ranger to seek out some wild life which is in abundance! When you return dinner will be enjoyed at the camp.

An early morning start takes you into the vast area of Kapama which comprises of 13000 hectares and is home to 40 different species of mammals including the famed and dangerous African big five, namely Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo. There are also 350 bird species in this vast     paradise of natural bush veld. Lunch is enjoyed in the bush at a safe and controlled area. After spending a day in the bush you return to your tented accommodation to relax before enjoying another excellent dinner at the camp.

After a good breakfast and a relaxing morning around the Camp is enjoyed at your leisure. Savour the last few hours that you have at this really special place. A last minute safari drive is also an option for the morning’s entertainment or even a visit to the animal hospital which is most interesting as well. After your final lunch at Kapama you are transported to the airport for your flight to O R Tambo international in Johannesburg where you will be met by staff who will take you to your overnight accommodation, dinner will be enjoyed at the hotel.

Day 9: VICTORIA FALLS
JOHANNESBURG – VICTORIA FALLS

After breakfast you will be transferred from the hotel back to O R Tambo International airport for your flight to the town of Victoria Falls, named after the majestic falls near which it is located. The Victoria Falls is without a doubt one of the most spectacular natural sights in the entire world. The falls occur where the mighty Zambezi River stretches to approximately 1 688m wide and, from its highest point, plummets 108m meters in a thundering roar of white waters and spiraling mists. This occurrence has earned it the local name of “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – the smoke that thunders. Time         devoted to a Victoria Falls tour is followed by a visit to the Victoria Falls Craft Market, where some of Africa’s finest artwork is on display. Guests will then be assisted with check-in at the elegant Victoria Falls hotel.

Day 10: ELEPHANT BACK SAFARI
VICTORIA FALLS – ZAMBEZI RIVER

The morning is devoted to an elephant-back safari in a wilderness area not far from Victoria Falls. An experienced elephant minder accompanies each elephant and visitor. Upon mounting the elephants, the safari begins. View game whilst riding game and savor the experience of crashing through the African bush atop a gigantic pachyderm. Your safari ends with a short training session and      interaction with the elephants, followed by a late breakfast or early lunch. Guests then return to the hotel, where they are met during the late afternoon for a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River. View game coming to the water’s edge for a late afternoon drink, whilst the setting sun creates a splendid display of color over one of Africa’s finest wilderness areas.

After lunch we negotiate the Abel Erasmus Pass and the Strydom Tunnel with magnificent mountain views over the Oliphants River. We will arrive at Durban Beachfront in the late afternoon. After checking in at the Hotel we enjoy dinner at a famous Indian Restaurant.

On this day as we visit uShaka Marine World which is the largest marine aquarium in the Southern Hemisphere and well worth the visit. After exploring Durban you are shuttled to the Airport in the late afternoon for a flight to Port Elizabeth arriving early evening.

After Breakfast a driving tour of Port Elizabeth taking in some of the attractions including the Donkin Heritage Trail which comprises of no less than 51 historical places of interest. After the city experience we continue along the N2 towards the Garden Route. We enjoy a lunch stop at Jeffrey’s Bay which is home to one of the world’s most perfect surfing waves and rated as No 2 behind Oahu Hawaii (pipeline). We arrive in the Tsitsikamma Forest region in the afternoon where you will check into your lodge.

Today there are a variety of great activities to enjoy in the area. A Tree Top Canopy tour is great fun and very easy to do. We will then visit Storms River Mouth which is one of the most rugged coastlines in the world for a short hike to the suspension bridge. After the suspension bridge walk lunch is at the resort Restaurant. In the afternoon we visit Bloukrans Bridge which is the worlds highest bridge Bungy Jump (218m). Its your choice if you want to do this activity or simply watch the young wild people jump while sipping a cold beer.

Today there is a selection of things to do on our way to Knysna. We stop at the Crags with wonderful factory shops and craft market and Birds of Eden which is the world’s largest enclosed Avery. A visit to Monkey Land is also part of the day. On arrival in Knysna we do some of the local attractions which includes Knysna Heads before we check-in at our hotel. Dinner is at a famous and highly recommended restaurant in Knysna Waterfront.

After breakfast we depart Knysna and continue along the Garden Route visiting the town of Mossel bay for a lunch stop en route to the seaside town of Hermanus.  This is a long drive however the countryside is most spectacular and the stop at Mossel Bay breaks the trip nicely!  We arrive at the seaside town of Hermanus in the afternoon where we check in at our overnight hotel, you are then free to enjoy the town at your leisure.

Hermanus is famous for Southern Right Whales and is regarded as being one of the best places in the world to view these wonderful giants. Southern Right Whales visit Hermanus during the months of August to October. If the months do not correspond with your travel dates you have Great White Shark diving as an option which is available all year round.  Both Whale watching and Great White Shark cage diving are really great experiences and very safe.

COASTAL DRIVE | PENGUIN COLONY

We depart form Hermanus at mid-morning. We then follow the coastal scenic Route back to Cape Town which is a Tour in itself.  Along the way we visit a coastal vineyard and a remote and fascinating Penguin Colony at Stony Point. Harold Porter Botanical Garden is a good lunch stop, and then Clarence Drive Coastal Route through Gordon’s Bay to Cape Town.  We arrive in Cape Town in the evening.  Your last night in Cape Town can be spent enjoying a wonderful dinner at a recommended Restaurant in the V & A Waterfront.

Day 1: MEET & GREET CITY TOUR

Our staff will receive you at Cape Town International Airport. We will then do a City Tour which also serves as an introduction to the Mother City, pointing out Historical Landmarks, shopping hot spots and recommended restaurants. On arrival at the Hotel we will go over the itinerary with you.

We combine two of Cape Town’s most iconic landmarks in a Full Day experience that will be both spectacular and also emotional as well! When you visit the cell that Nelson Mandela lived in for 18 years of his 27 year incarceration, tears have been known to flow. The day is divided into two parts, Table Mountain in the morning and then Robben Island in the afternoon. This is because weather can be a factor, normally the conditions are more favourable for the mountain in the mornings! Lunch will be at the V & A Waterfront.

Day 5: CEDERBERG MOUNTAINS
STELLENBOSCH – CLANWILLIAM

Depart your hotel in Stellenbosch and proceed along the West Coast road before arriving at Clan William and Bushman’s Kloof which is located a relatively short distance out of Town. Stellenbosch to Clan William is approximately 230 km which should not be more than a three and a half hour drive so you will have time to savour the surrounding countryside en route to Bushman’s Kloof.

Day 6: ROCK ART TRAIL
BUSHMAN’S KLOOF

Relax and enjoy Bushman’s Kloof as well as explore some of the interesting things in the immediate area. The Sevilla Rock Art Trail is highly recommended and is a 4 kilometre self-guided walk with some magnificent ancient rock paintings that are more than three times older than the Egyptian Pyramids.

Day 7: RICHTERSVELD TRANSFRONTIER PARK

An early morning departure from Bushman’s Kloof is recommended as this leg of your self-drive tour of Cape Town & Namibia is the longest by far covering no less than 580 kilometres as well as border crossing into Namibia. The earlier you are on the road the better as the drive will be in the region of 8 hours with stops. Your destination is the Richtersveld Transfrontier Park where you will overnight at the Ai-Ais Hot Springs Spa Resort. This location is very close to the Fish River Canyon.

Day 8: AI AIS HOT SPRINGS & AUS DESERT TOWN

After your relatively long drive the day before you are able to enjoy a slightly later breakfast and enjoy the morning at this unique place, Ai-Ais Hot Springs Spa. The next destination is the desert town of AUS which is about 350 kilometres from Ais Ais and therefore a much easier drive than the previous day. There are a few route options that can be decided closer the time. We recommend that you start your trip to Aus directly after lunch! You will arrive at Aus in the late afternoon where you will overnight.

Day 9: GHOST TOWN KOLMANSKOP & LUDERITZ
AUS – KOLMANSKOP – LUDERITZ – AUS

GHOST TOWN IN NAMIBIA
Once again today you are able to enjoy a slightly later start as you are overnighting at the same destination. Just over an hour’s drive (one way) you have the Ghost Town of Kolmanskop which is a famous attraction in the region and well worth a visit. On this day you can visit this unique place as well as the harbour town of Lüderitz with it’s interesting colonial architecture and wildlife. This is just another opportunity to experience a unique and remote destination. You have the whole day to explore the Ghost Town and visit Lüderitz before returning to Aus.

Day 10: NAMIB DESERT
AUS – SOLITAIRE

After breakfast an early departure is recommended as you head deeper into the Namib Desert which is the oldest in the world. Your destination is the town of Solitaire in the Khomas region of central Namibia and close to the Namib-Naukluft National Park and the Sossusvlei Dunes which are the highest in the world. The journey from Aus is approximately 450 kilometres which could take up to 7 hours with stops and you will travel through some ever changing landscapes with impressive mountain ranges. You arrive at Solitaire Guest Ranch in the afternoon where you can enjoy a Namibian sunset over the desert.

Day 11: SOSSUSVLEI DUNES
SOLITAIRE – SOSSUSVLEI – SESRIEM

After an early morning breakfast you venture out into the desert in the direction of Sassusvlei to see the awesome and magical red shimmering sand dunes some of which are three hundred meters high! If you dare you have the opportunity to climb to the top of these dunes where you will be rewarded with a view that will stay with you for ever! The day should also include “Dead Vlei” with its 500 year old dead trees which are not unlike a scene from a Salvador Dali painting. The later part of the day can include a stop at Sesriem where you will see first-hand how a unique landscape can be created by millions of years of exposure to the river Tsauchab . You arrive back at Moon Mountain Lodge in the late afternoon or early evening where you can enjoy a relaxing dinner after a very full and absorbing day!

Day 12: SWAKOPMUND
SOLITAIRE – WALVIS BAY – SWAKOPMUND

Depart Moon Mountain Lodge and follow route C14 to Walvis Bay and then route B2 to Swakopmund, this is approximately a 380 kilometre relatively easy scenic drive which first takes you to Walvis Bay where you could stop for lunch and even explore the seaside town a little. From Walvis Bay to Swakopmund is just a short drive of 35 kilometres on a tar road. You arrive at Swakopmund in the afternoon and check in at the Swakopmund Hotel before enjoying dinner at a recommended local restaurant.

Day 13: SWAKOPMUND

Explore Swakopmund at your leisure, enjoy some of the excellent restaurants that the town has to offer of which “The Tug” is really good if you enjoy seafood. A day trip to Sandwich Harbour is also highly recommended. Once you are in Swakopmund you will find that there are plenty of things to do and see.

Day 14: WINDHOEK
SWAKOPMUND – WINDHOEK

Depart from Swakopmund after breakfast and proceed on the scenic C28 route to Windhoek. What we suggest is that you take a packed picnic lunch with you on this trip and you can enjoy it along the route! The road follows a completely new route through the Khomas with lots of stunning Namibian landscapes. Depending on your driving time you arrive at Windhoek in the late afternoon. The distance from Swakopmund to Windhoek along the C28 is approximately 340 kilometres which should not take more than 5 hours. In the evening we recommend that you visit Joe’s Beer House for dinner which is an institution in Windhoek and world famous for its Namibian and German cuisine, not to mention the beer!

Day 15: CAPE TOWN

After breakfast you depart your Hotel for Eros Airport to drop the hire car and board your flight to Cape Town International. Depending on confirmation of flights you will arrive in Cape Town in the afternoon for your homeward bound flight.

After a full day of game viewing we head towards the southern gate of the Kruger and to the town of Malalane arriving in the late afternoon. We then proceed to Lake St Lucia which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to 1200 Nile Crocodiles and at least 800 Hippopotamus. Dinner will be in town at a recommended restaurant.

The lunch stop is at one of the famous battlefields of the region. A battlefield tour is a recommended option where you will learn some of the fascinating historical facts from a local historian. This region is famous for its Ostriches, Cango Caves as well as spectacular mountain ranges. In the afternoon we visit Cango Caves for a guided tour into this subterranean world. Lunch is along the route at one of the many picturesque towns. Our overnight destination is the historical town of Swellendam. This is your last day in Cape Town, depending on your departure time can be spend time at the V & A Waterfront doing a little last minute shopping or simply relaxing with a coffee and watching the busy harbour activity!  When you are ready your shuttle will collect you from your hotel. With International flights you are required to be at the airport two hours before departure and for regional flights it is one hour. The trip from Cape Town to the airport is 40 minutes with a buffer built in.

A Full Day Tour of the Panorama Route which includes the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, Wonder View and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. The tour includes many stops and lots of photo opportunities. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Bourke’s Luck potholes, and a visit to the historical gold prospectors town of Pilgrim’s Rest. We arrive at Hazyview in the early evening after a great days touring.

south-african-tour lionsToday we enter Kruger National Park at the Numbi Gate for a driving excursion into the Southern region of the park. Southern Kruger is famous for an abundance of Rhino and numerous Lion prides. The lunch stop will be at Skukuza rest camp which overlooks the Sabie River. After a Full Day of game viewing we head towards the southern gate of the Kruger and to the town of Malalane arriving in the late afternoon. Dinner will be enjoyed at a hotel restaurant overlooking the Crocodile River.

SWAZILAND | KWAZULU NATAL

south-african-tour hippoWe enter Swaziland at Jeppes Reef Border Post to begin our trip through Swaziland, we will stop for lunch at the Royal Swaziland Sun after which we continue to the border post at Golela where we re-enter South African province of KwaZulu Natal. We then proceed to Lake St Lucia which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to 1200 Nile Crocodiles and at least 800 Hippopotamus. Dinner will be in town at a recommended restaurant.

ZULULAND | DRAKENSBERG

The morning is spent exploring the Greater St Lucia Wetland and then we travel inland following a route through the rolling hills of Zululand which have been the battle fields of many wars fought between the mighty Zulu Nation and the British and Boers settlers in their quest for a piece of Southern Africa. The lunch stop is at one of the famous battlefields of the region. A battlefield tour is a recommended option where you will learn some of the fascinating historical facts from a local historian. In the early afternoon we arrive at Drakensberg Mountains.

After a relaxing breakfast you have the day to enjoy and savour the area, there are many options from hiking trails and a 4×4 trip which negotiates the highest mountain pass in Africa, the Sani Pass. At the top you can enjoy a beer at the highest Pub in Africa!  Ancient rock art trails and pony rides in the mountains are also available. Another option is just to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of this world heritage site!

After breakfast we depart from the Drakensberg and continue to travel overland through Southern KwaZulu Natal and then into the Transkei. Our destination is Port St John’s and the Umngazi River Mouth which is located along the so called Wild Coast with it breathtaking and rugged Betty. We arrive at the Wild Coast in the late afternoon where you can relax around the pool before dinner which is at the lodge.

We will have a pre-packed lunch at a scenic stop along the route, arriving at the seaside City of East London in the afternoon. A lunch stop is at Summer Strand in Port Elizabeth which is South Africa’s fourth largest City and an important sea port for imports and exports! After a late breakfast we depart the Tsitsikamma Forest and make our way further down the Garden Route. We stop at the Crags with its many factory shops and fine craft markets for a little shopping. Then we visit Birds of Eden the world’s largest enclosed aviary. A visit to monkey land is also part of the experience! Lunch is at one of the many scenic places along the route. We arrive in Knysna in the afternoon. Once we have checked into the hotel we take you to the Knysna Waterfront for dinner where you can choose one of many fine restaurants that are available.

KNYSNA | OUDTSHOORN

Cango Caves, South Africa

The morning is spent exploring some of the attractions in Knysna. We visit the famous Knysna Heads which is the deep water channel into the lagoon. Around mid-morning we depart from Knysna and make our way over the Outeniqua Mountains to the Karoo and the town of Oudtshoorn. This region is famous for its Ostriches, Cango Caves as well as spectacular mountain ranges. In the afternoon we visit Cango Caves for a guided tour into this subterranean world. After this we arrive at a country lodge in the late afternoon.

The morning activity is a visit to an Ostrich Farm where you will be introduced to these fascinating oddities of nature and even have a chance to ride one if you wish.  After this we depart the Oudtshoorn region and head south across a mass of spectacular mountain passes with ever changing landscapes! Lunch is along the route at one of the many towns. Our overnight destination is the coastal town of Gansbaai famous for it’s Great White Shark Cage Diving.

An early breakfast and an early start as today you meet Great White Sharks in their natural environment, the South Atlantic Ocean. This stretch of South African coast is home to the greatest numbers of white Sharks on the planet. The Shark diving activity takes half a day and once you return to shore you can enjoy some craft beer at the Birkenhead Brewery. The afternoon is spent travelling to the seaside town of Hermanus where you will overnight.

The morning is spent enjoying the town of Hermanus with its fantastic views over Walker Bay.  There is also a great market in the town square. After lunch we depart on a coastal route where you will visit a fascinating Penguin Colony and a Botanical Garden.  We arrive at a country hotel in the heart of the winelands in the early afternoon where you are free to relax in this exotic location.

After a late breakfast you are ready to enjoy a day of wine tasting at some of the most sought after wine estates in the world.  We have put together a selection of no less that four wine farms that are famous for there export vintages. There is also a cheese and wine paring on the day. Each wine farm has been selected not only for the excellent wine but also for its scenic location. This will be a very special day indeed.

You are collected for a Full day tour of the Cape Peninsula with all it’s attractions. You will travel South along the Atlantic coast with stops at Hout Bay Harbour with an optional boat trip to Seal Island. Then there are the Penguins at Boulders Beach and finally you arrive at the Cape of Good Hope where you have lunch and then the afternoon to explore the area.  There are a selection of great hikes and the majestic setting is something to behold.  You return to your hotel in the early evening. Dinner can be at the Cape Town Waterfront with its huge selection of fine restaurants!

You are supplied with a two day combo ticket for the Cape Town RED BUS which is a hop on hop off service covering the City and all it’s attractions. This is the best way to explore the Mother City at your leisure. The route includes Table Mountain and all the museums. This is a perfect time to do your own thing and really get to know the City. Your itinerary will include a list of all the recommended things to do on the day.

3 DAY TABLE MOUNTAIN, ROBBEN ISLAND & WINE

As this is the last day of your South Africa trip we have supplied you with a ticket to Robben Island which is a World Heritage Site and the place that Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years of his life. The Robben island Tour is conducted by ex political prisoners who will give you a fist hand account of what it was like on the island during those dark years of apartheid. Depending on your flight departure time or weather you have added some extra days to your South African trip you are free to spend the remaining time at the Waterfront.
